Savannah Bananas Are Bringing Baseball’s Wildest Show Back to Houston in 2027
Forget the seventh-inning stretch. With the Savannah Bananas, you might need to stretch before the first pitch just to keep up with everything happening on the field.
Baseball’s most entertaining traveling circus is heading back to Houston in 2027, and this time, the Bananas are taking over a football stadium.
The Savannah Bananas will face the Texas Tailgaters at Reliant Stadium on May 22 and 23, bringing their unusual blend of baseball, comedy, dancing, and athletic stunts to a venue better known for Texans football.
And Houston-area fans won’t have to wait until May for their first taste of Banana Ball.
Two Houston-Area Stops, Four Games
The Banana Ball tour will make its first local appearance March 12–13 at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, where the Texas Tailgaters will face the Loco Beach Coconuts.
Banana Ball has already proved popular in Sugar Land, with previous appearances at Constellation Field drawing sold-out crowds. The May games at Reliant Stadium will mark something different altogether: the first baseball games held at the football venue.
That’s a lot of room for baseball’s most enthusiastic bunch of showoffs.
The Houston dates are part of an ambitious 2027 Banana Ball schedule that includes major league ballparks, football stadiums, and the league’s first international appearances in Canada and Mexico.
Baseball Rules? They’re More Like Suggestions
Anyone expecting traditional baseball might want to study up before buying a ticket.
Banana Ball has its own set of 11 rules, and several would probably make a major league manager reach for the antacids.
For starters, fans can record an out by making a clean catch of a foul ball. Batters can steal first base on a wild pitch or passed ball, and a fourth ball doesn’t result in a leisurely stroll to first. Instead, the batter takes off running while every defensive player must touch the ball before it becomes live.
Bunting? Don’t even think about it. Under the official Banana Ball rules, a bunt gets the batter ejected.
Games also operate under a two-hour limit, with no new inning beginning once that time expires.
Throw in choreographed dances, acrobatic catches, elaborate celebrations, and the occasional player on stilts, and the whole production starts looking less like a conventional ballgame and more like a baseball-themed variety show.
But beneath all the silliness, these are real athletes competing in actual games. The entertainment is part of the package, not a substitute for the sport.
Want Tickets? You’ll Need Some Lottery Luck
Here’s the important part for Houston fans hoping to see the madness in person.
Tickets aren’t being offered through an ordinary first-come, first-served public sale. Instead, prospective buyers must register for the official Banana Ball ticket lottery.
The deadline is Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 10:59 p.m. Central.
Entering is free, but it doesn’t guarantee tickets or even an opportunity to purchase them. Fans selected in the random drawing will receive further instructions.
The Sugar Land games have advertised standard ticket prices starting at $35, although pricing for the Reliant Stadium dates has not been announced.
The Bananas have demonstrated that their particular brand of baseball can attract enormous crowds. In May 2026, they drew approximately 102,000 spectators to Texas A&M’s Kyle Field, setting a Banana Ball attendance record.
Houston is next in line for the football-stadium treatment.
And if you’ve ever wanted to watch an umpire dance, a batter sprint after ball four, or a fan turn a foul ball into an out, this might be your kind of baseball.
Just remember: bringing your glove could make you part of the action.
