Which Astros Made the All-Star Finals? Find Out Tonight

Comments Off on Which Astros Made the All-Star Finals? Find Out Tonight

Phase 1 of All-Star voting closed at noon ET Thursday, and Astros fans will find out tonight which Houston players advanced to Phase 2.

The finalists will be revealed live on MLB Network beginning at 6 p.m. ET during MLB Tonight.

Yordan Alvarez has led AL designated hitters throughout the voting period and appears well positioned to advance, but there is a wrinkle. As of Monday’s update, Blue Jays utilityman Ernie Clement had surged to the top of the overall AL vote count, ahead of Alvarez, Aaron Judge, and Mike Trout. The overall AL leader earns an automatic All-Star berth. If Clement holds that spot, Alvarez advances as the top designated hitter but does not clinch automatically.

Jose Altuve is in a tighter spot. He entered the final days chasing Ezequiel Duran of the Rangers for the runner-up spot at second base. Only the top two finishers at each position advance to Phase 2.

Jeremy Peña entered Thursday fourth among AL shortstops as of the last update, outside the top two. Whether he made the cut will be known tonight.

Phase 2 voting begins Monday, June 29 at noon ET and runs through Thursday, July 2 at noon. Fans may vote once per day. The Phase 2 winners will be announced July 4 at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
