HOUSTON, TX – June 14, 2025 – The Houston Astros secured their fourth consecutive victory in dramatic fashion last night at Daikin Park, as rookie Cam Smith delivered a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Astros a thrilling 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. The victory clinched the series for Houston.

Astros starter Hunter Brown received a no-decision despite a brilliant outing, pitching seven innings and allowing two runs on just three hits while striking out a career-high 12 batters. The win went to closer Josh Hader (3-0), who pitched a scoreless ninth. For the Twins, Joe Ryan also pitched seven strong innings, allowing two runs on two hits, but the loss ultimately fell to closer Jhoan Duran (4-2).

The Astros broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning when Yainer Díaz launched a two-run home run to right field, his ninth of the season, scoring Jeremy Peña and giving Houston a 2-0 lead.

The Twins, however, fought back to tie the game in the top of the fifth. With a runner on, Brooks Lee hit a two-run home run to left-center field, knotting the score at 2-2.

Both bullpens then held strong, sending the game into the bottom of the ninth tied at 2-2. With one out, Christian Walker drew a walk off Jhoan Duran. Jake Meyers then singled to center field, moving Walker to third. With runners on the corners and two outs, Cam Smith stepped to the plate. On the first pitch he saw, Smith hit a ground ball single up the middle, scoring Walker and sending the Astros dugout into a jubilant celebration for the walk-off 3-2 victory.

Hunter Brown’s dominant performance, marked by his career-high 12 strikeouts, kept the Astros in the game, allowing the offense a chance to win it late.

The thrilling win improved the Astros’ record to 40-30, securing the series win against the Twins and continuing their strong homestand.
