Notes

Friday night opens a three-game series against Cleveland and gives the Astros an early test against one of the American League’s more consistent clubs. Houston enters at 35-41 and trying to build momentum before the All-Star break, while the Guardians arrive tied atop the AL Central at 40-35. Tatsuya Imai gets the ball looking to bounce back after a rough outing in Kansas City, while Cleveland counters with Tanner Bibee, whose numbers have been stronger than his record suggests. Offensively, the Guardians are led by José Ramírez and Steven Kwan, giving Houston little room for mistakes to start the weekend.
