HOUSTON, TX – August 29, 2025 — The Houston Astros continued their winning ways in a tightly contested 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night at Daikin Park. The win was secured by a brilliant pitching performance from Cristian Javier and a late-game offensive rally.
Javier was the story of the night, taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning before it was broken up by a double from Yoán Moncada. Javier was masterful, pitching six no-hit innings with three walks and six strikeouts. The Astros’ offense, which had been dormant for most of the game, finally broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single from Carlos Correa.
The Astros added an insurance run in the eighth inning when a sacrifice fly by Yordan Alvarez drove in the team’s second run. Houston’s bullpen, with Enyel De Los Santos earning the win and Kaleb Ort picking up his first save of the season, closed out the game to secure the victory.
The win improves the Astros’ record to 75-60. They now hold a 2.5-game lead over the Seattle Mariners in the American League West. The Astros will look to take a commanding lead in the four-game series against the Angels on Saturday night.
