HOUSTON, TX – May 11, 2025 – The Houston Astros bounced back from a tough loss to defeat the Cincinnati Reds 6-0 last night at Daikin Park, winning their three-game series two games to one. Ronel Blanco delivered a sensational performance on the mound, shutting down the Reds’ offense.

Astros right-hander Ronel Blanco (3-3) was the undisputed star, pitching eight brilliant scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out a career-high 11 batters. Shawn Dubin closed out the ninth to complete the two-hit shutout, the Astros’ fourth of the season. Reds starter Chase Petty (0-2) took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits in three innings.

The Astros offense, after the previous day’s slugfest, got on the board in the bottom of the third inning. With runners on, Yainer Díaz launched a three-run home run to left field, his fourth of the season, giving the Astros a 3-0 lead.

Houston extended its lead in the fourth. Christian Walker hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Cam Smith and pushing the lead to 4-0.

The Astros added two more runs in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded, Christian Walker delivered a two-run single, scoring Cam Smith and Jeremy Peña and bringing the score to its final of 6-0. Walker finished the game with two hits and three RBIs.

The Reds offense was completely stifled by Blanco, managing only two hits all game and posing no real threat.

The Astros collected 9 hits in the contest, securing a decisive victory and winning the series against the Reds. This brought their record to 20-19.
