HOUSTON, TX – July 25, 2025 – Following a “Christmas in July” loss that soured Thursday night’s festivities, the Houston Astros are eager to even their four-game series against the Athletics at Daikin Park. Tonight’s matchup promises an intriguing left-hander vs. right-hander showdown on the mound and a blend of veteran savvy with youthful energy across both lineups.

Taking the hill for the Astros will be rookie right-hander Ryan Gusto (6-3, 4.46 ERA), who will look to bounce back and deliver a strong performance. Countering him for the Athletics is experienced southpaw Jeffrey Springs (8-7, 4.18 ERA), aiming to build on his team’s momentum from last night.

Here are the starting lineups for both clubs as they prepare for Game Two:

Houston Astros Lineup

Manager Joe Espada’s batting order features a mix of power and speed, tailored to face the lefty Springs:

  1. Taylor Trammell (L) CF
  2. Jose Altuve (R) LF
  3. Victor Caratini (S) C
  4. Christian Walker (R) 1B
  5. Cam Smith (R) RF
  6. Jon Singleton (L) DH
  7. Mauricio Dubón (R) 3B
  8. Brice Matthews (R) 2B
  9. Zack Short (R) SS

The Athletics Lineup

Manager Mark Kotsay has put together a lineup that looks to challenge Gusto, featuring some key right-handed bats and promising young talent:

  1. Max Schuemann (R) SS
  2. Nick Kurtz (L) 1B
  3. Brent Rooker (R) DH
  4. Tyler Soderstrom (L) LF
  5. Shea Langeliers (R) C
  6. Lawrence Butler (L) CF
  7. Carlos Cortes (L) RF
  8. Gio Urshela (R) 3B
  9. Luis Urías (R) 2B

Fans can anticipate a compelling game as both teams vie for control of the series. All eyes will be on the pitchers to establish dominance early, and on these lineups to ignite the offense.
