Daikin Park has several public entry gates located along the surrounding downtown streets, and fans can enter through any open gate unless their ticket or event staff directs otherwise. Knowing which street your gate is on can make arrival much easier, especially if you’re parking nearby or using a rideshare.
The main public entrances are located along these streets:
- Home Plate Gate — Crawford Street
This is the primary and most recognizable entrance to the ballpark. It is often the busiest before games and is closest to many of the main parking areas. - Texas Avenue entrances
Multiple gates are located along Texas Avenue on the north side of the stadium, convenient for fans arriving from that direction or using nearby garages. - Congress Avenue entrances
Gates on the south side of the stadium along Congress Avenue provide another option for entry and may have shorter lines at certain times. - Preston Street side
Entrances along Preston Street serve fans approaching from the west side of the ballpark. - Go-Ahead Entry (Facial Recognition Lanes)
Daikin Park offers an optional entry system called Go-Ahead Entry, which allows fans to enter the stadium using facial authentication instead of scanning a ticket. The system is voluntary and available to fans age 18 and older who choose to enroll through the MLB Ballpark app or online.
To use Go-Ahead Entry, a fan registers once in the app by taking a selfie. When they walk through a designated Go-Ahead lane at the gate, cameras recognize them and automatically validate the tickets linked to their account. This allows for a faster, hands-free entry experience without stopping to scan a phone.
At Daikin Park, Go-Ahead Entry lanes are located at several main entrances, including Home Plate, Left Field, Right Field, Center Field, and South Home Plate gates. Some gates may have dedicated Go-Ahead-only lanes.
Fans who do not enroll can still enter through regular lanes using standard digital ticket scanning.
For most Houston Astros home games, gates typically open about two hours before first pitch. For weekday day games, gates may open closer to 90 minutes before game time. Times can vary slightly depending on the event.
All guests must pass through security screening at the gate, including metal detectors and bag checks. Having your tickets ready and bringing only permitted items can help you move through the line more quickly.
