BALTIMORE, MD – August 24, 2025 — The Houston Astros’ three-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday afternoon as they fell to the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 in a tightly contested game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The loss prevented the Astros from completing the four-game series sweep.
This was a classic pitchers’ duel from the start, a stark contrast to the high-scoring games of the previous two nights. Both pitchers were in command, keeping the opposing offenses at bay. The Orioles’ starter Trevor Rogers pitched a gem, going 5.1 innings and allowing only one run. The Astros’ starter Spencer Arrighetti was also solid, going six innings and giving up just two runs.
The Orioles got on the board in the first inning on a solo home run by Gunnar Henderson. The Astros tied the game in the third on an RBI single from Jeremy Peña. The Orioles regained the lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Mountcastle.
The game remained 2-1 until the eighth when the Astros tied it on a clutch RBI single from Yainer Diaz. But the Orioles would get the last laugh. In the bottom of the ninth, Gunnar Henderson came up big again, hitting a walk-off RBI single to secure the victory for the Orioles.
The Astros’ offense, which had been so productive the last two games, went quiet again, managing only six hits on the day.
The loss drops the Astros’ record to 72-59. They will now head to Seattle for a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners, who are just 3 games back in the AL West. The Astros will need to find a way to get their offense back on track if they hope to maintain their lead in the division.
