Comments Off on Altuve and Diaz Homer as Astros Win Second Straight Over Marlins

MIAMI, FL – August 5, 2025 – The Houston Astros continued their positive momentum in Miami, securing a 7-3 victory over the Marlins tonight for their second straight win. Fueled by home runs from two of their biggest offensive stars and a strong performance from a rookie pitcher, the Astros showed signs of putting their recent struggles behind them.

The offense was powered by veteran leadership and young talent alike. Jose Altuve got things started early with a two-run homer in the first inning, his 19th of the season. The Astros stretched their lead in the fourth when Jeremy Peña, looking more comfortable at the plate, hit a clutch two-run triple that scored two more runs.

But the real power surge came in the fifth inning. Yainer Diaz crushed a three-run home run, his 16th of the season, to break the game wide open and give the Astros a commanding 7-1 lead.

On the mound, rookie AJ Blubaugh delivered a solid outing, earning his first career win. He pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out five. While the Marlins managed to get some late-inning home runs from Jakob Marsee and Eric Wagaman, the lead was too large to overcome.

The win marked the Astros’ second consecutive victory, showcasing an offense that was finally clicking and giving them a chance to complete a sweep in the final game of the series.
