Astros Offense Explodes to Avoid Sweep in Seattle, Dominate Mariners 11-3

July 20, 2025

SEATTLE, WA – July 20, 2025 – The Houston Astros emphatically snapped their three-game losing streak and salvaged the final game of their series against the Seattle Mariners, securing a decisive 11-3 victory on Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Park. The win prevents a humiliating sweep at the hands of their AL West rivals and provides a much-needed morale boost heading into the next leg of their road trip.

After two consecutive frustrating losses, including an extra-innings walk-off on Saturday, the Astros’ bats finally came alive. Houston scored in multiple innings, piling up 11 runs on 13 hits to overwhelm Mariners pitching.

The Astros broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning, exploding for three runs. They added two more in the sixth and truly blew the game open with a four-run seventh inning, showcasing the offensive firepower that has been largely dormant during their recent struggles. Victor Caratini had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs. Christian Walker continued his strong performance from Saturday, hitting a home run and driving in a run. Newcomer Taylor Trammell also contributed significantly with a home run and 3 RBIs.

On the mound, Astros starter Hunter Brown (10-4) delivered a strong outing, earning his 10th win of the season. He limited the Mariners’ potent offense, giving the bullpen a much-needed cushion after recent heavy workloads. Bryan Woo (8-5) took the loss for Seattle.

The Mariners scored their three runs in the third and fourth innings, but couldn’t keep pace with Houston’s resurgent offense.

This crucial victory moves the Astros’ record to 57-42, preventing the Mariners from closing the AL West gap further. Seattle’s record now stands at 53-46. While the Astros lost the series 2-1, avoiding the sweep against a division rival on their home turf is a significant psychological win and stops the bleeding from their recent slide.

The Astros will now look to carry this offensive momentum into their next series.
