ATLANTA, GA – July 15, 2025 – Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh put on a masterful display of power last night, winning the 2025 T-Mobile Home Run Derby at Truist Park. Raleigh became the first catcher and the first switch-hitter to outright win the event, topping Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero in a high-octane final round.
Raleigh, who entered the All-Star break leading MLB with an astounding 38 home runs, nearly didn’t make it out of the first round. He tied with Brent Rooker (Athletics) with 17 homers, but advanced on a tiebreaker due to hitting a longer home run by less than an inch – a dramatic moment that set the tone for his victorious night.
In the semifinals, Raleigh defeated Pittsburgh Pirates slugger Oneil Cruz, who electrified the crowd with the longest home run of the night, a monstrous 513-foot blast. Raleigh then faced Caminero in the final, out-slugging the young Rays star 18-15 to claim the title.
The win was a true family affair, with Raleigh’s father, Todd, pitching to him, and his 15-year-old brother, Todd Jr., catching behind the plate. Cal Raleigh totaled 54 home runs throughout the competition, solidifying his status as one of baseball’s premier power hitters.
