Joey Loperfido Has Some Big News
Astros outfielder Joey Loperfido used the All-Star break for something other than baseball, proposing to girlfriend Faith Reilly during a trip to Bay Head, New Jersey—a fitting location, since the Garden State is home turf for both of them, Loperfido from Haddonfield and Reilly from Mountain Lakes. Loperfido shared photos from the proposal on Instagram Tuesday, including a shot of a plane towing a banner overhead that read “Faith said yes!!”
Houston selected Loperfido in the seventh round out of Duke back in 2021, and he made his major league debut in 2024. Toronto sent Yusei Kikuchi to Houston that same year in exchange for a package that included Loperfido. The Astros got him back this spring, flipping Jesús Sánchez to the Blue Jays in the swap.
Loperfido opened the season as Houston’s Opening Day left fielder but has struggled to hold a big league role, hitting .216 on the year and getting optioned back to Triple-A Sugar Land earlier this month after a difficult stretch following a June recall. Reilly, a former college lacrosse player at Bucknell who earned her degree there in 2022, now works in finance.
