HOUSTON, TX – June 12, 2025 – The Houston Astros defeated the Chicago White Sox 4-3 last night at Daikin Park, securing the rubber match and taking their three-game home series. Framber Valdez delivered an impressive outing, and a late solo home run from Isaac Paredes proved crucial.

Astros left-hander Framber Valdez (7-4) earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out a season-high 12 batters. Josh Hader (18th save) closed out the game despite a ninth-inning home run. For the White Sox, Davis Martin (2-7) took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits over six innings.

The White Sox got on the board first in the top of the third inning when Edgar Quero hit an RBI single, scoring Miguel Vargas and giving Chicago a 1-0 lead.

However, the Astros responded emphatically in the bottom of the third. Jose Altuve hit a two-run double, scoring Jeremy Peña and Isaac Paredes, giving Houston a 2-1 lead. Yainer Díaz followed with an RBI double, bringing home Jose Altuve and extending the lead to 3-1.

The White Sox cut into the lead in the top of the fifth when Edgar Quero hit his second RBI single of the night, again scoring Miguel Vargas, making it 3-2.

But the Astros immediately answered in the bottom of the fifth when Isaac Paredes launched a solo home run to left-center field, his 15th of the season, pushing Houston’s lead to 4-2.

The game remained 4-2 until the top of the ninth. White Sox pinch-hitter Mike Tauchman hit a solo home run off Josh Hader, making it a one-run game at 4-3. However, Hader managed to strand a runner at second base, securing his 18th save of the season and closing out the win for the Astros.

Valdez’s 12 strikeouts were a highlight, despite a higher pitch count. Jose Altuve and Yainer Díaz contributed multiple hits and RBIs, and Isaac Paredes’s home run provided critical insurance.

The win improved the Astros’ record to 38-30 as they continued their homestand.
