HOUSTON, TX – May 25, 2025 – The Houston Astros secured a thrilling 5-3 walk-off victory against the Seattle Mariners last night at Daikin Park, thanks to a two-run ninth-inning home run by Christian Walker. The dramatic win gave the Astros the four-game series, taking three out of four from their AL West rivals.

Astros starter Colton Gordon pitched well, going five innings and allowing three runs on seven hits. The bullpen held strong, with Bryan King (3-0) earning the win after pitching 1.1 scoreless innings of relief. For the Mariners, Luis Castillo started, giving up three runs on nine hits over six innings. The loss went to reliever Casey Legumina (4-2), who surrendered the walk-off homer.

The Mariners got off to a quick start. In the top of the first inning, Mitch Garver hit a two-run double, scoring Julio Rodríguez and Randy Arozarena, putting Seattle up 2-0. They extended their lead to 3-0 in the third when Donovan Solano hit an RBI single.

However, the Astros began to chip away at the lead. In the bottom of the third, Christian Walker hit an RBI single, scoring Jose Altuve. Later in the inning, Victor Caratini hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Altuve and cutting the deficit to 3-2.

The game remained tight until the bottom of the sixth. With Jake Meyers on first, Cam Smith hit an RBI double down the right-field line, tying the game at 3-3.

The score held through the seventh and eighth innings, with both bullpens making key pitches. In the bottom of the ninth, with the game tied and no outs, Jose Altuve singled to left field. That brought Christian Walker to the plate, who, on an 0-2 count against Mariners reliever Casey Legumina, crushed a fastball into the Crawford Boxes in left field. The two-run walk-off home run sent Daikin Park into a frenzy, securing the 5-3 victory for the Astros.

Walker had a fantastic night, going 3-for-5 with the decisive home run and three RBIs. The Astros collected 13 hits in total, showing resilience after falling behind early.

The dramatic win improved the Astros’ record to 28-25 and was a crucial series victory against a division rival. The team now earns a well-deserved day off after completing a grueling stretch of games.
