The waiting is over. The Houston Astros have finalized their 2026 roster, and after one of the more eventful springs in recent memory, the group set to open the season is official.
Pitchers (13)
Bryan Abreu, AJ Blubaugh, Hunter Brown, Mike Burrows, Tatsuya Imai, Cristian Javier, Bryan King, Lance McCullers Jr., Roddery Muñoz, Steven Okert, Christian Roa, Kai-Wei Teng, Ryan Weiss
Catchers (2)
Yainer Diaz, Christian Vázquez
Infielders (7)
Nick Allen, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Brice Matthews, Isaac Paredes, Jeremy Peña, Christian Walker
Outfielders (4)
Yordan Alvarez, Joey Loperfido, Jake Meyers, Cam Smith
Jeremy Peña is on it. After fracturing the tip of his right ring finger in a World Baseball Classic exhibition game, Peña worked his way back in time, returning to shortstop in Tuesday’s exhibition and doing enough to secure his spot. That’s a major development for a lineup that relies heavily on his presence.
Brice Matthews is on it. The 24-year-old earned his place with an .824 OPS in spring training, eight stolen bases, and the kind of versatility that allows him to move across the infield and into the outfield corners if needed.
Christian Roa is on it. The non-roster right-hander impressed throughout camp and earned a spot on the major league roster, giving the bullpen another intriguing option early in the season.
Josh Hader is not on it, as he continues to recover, but his return will further strengthen a bullpen that already features Bryan Abreu, Bryan King, and Steven Okert.
Lance McCullers Jr. is on it, healthy and back in the rotation, looking to reestablish himself after multiple injury-plagued seasons.
And Jose Altuve is on it, for the 15th time, entering his 20th year in the Astros organization.
Opening Day is Thursday at Daikin Park. The roster is set, and the Astros are ready to begin the 2026 season.
