April 12, 2025

HOUSTON, TX – April 12, 2025 – The Houston Astros’ bats went cold last night at Daikin Park, as the Los Angeles Angels defeated them 4-1. Angels starter Tyler Anderson dominated, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning to lead his team to victory.

Tyler Anderson (1-0) was brilliant for the Angels, pitching 5 2/3 hitless innings before Yordan Alvarez broke up his no-hit bid with a two-out double in the sixth. Anderson finished his outing allowing just one hit and no runs, while striking out seven. Kenley Jansen (4th save) closed out the game in the ninth.

Astros rookie right-hander Ryan Gusto (1-1), making his first career start, took the loss. He allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits over four innings.

The Angels got on the scoreboard early in the first inning when Mike Trout hit a two-run single, giving Los Angeles a 2-0 lead. They extended their lead in the middle innings with solo home runs. Nolan Schanuel launched his first homer of the season in the fourth inning, and Taylor Ward followed with his fourth solo shot of the year in the fifth, pushing the Angels’ lead to 4-0.

The Astros’ lone run came in the bottom of the eighth inning when Isaac Paredes hit a solo home run. However, Houston struggled to generate offense, managing only three hits in the entire game and failing to capitalize on an opportunity with the bases loaded in the fourth inning.

The loss brings the Astros’ record to 6-8 on the season as they look to rebound in the final game of the series.
