The Astros return to CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches next week looking to rebound after missing the postseason for the first time since 2016, with much of the attention focused on a reworked pitching staff.
Houston’s veteran core remains in place, with José Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Carlos Correa, and 2025 team MVP Jeremy Peña anchoring the lineup. As a result, most of the competition this spring is expected to center on the starting rotation, led by Hunter Brown, who finished last season as an AL Cy Young finalist.
Important Dates
Pitchers and catchers report Wednesday, February 11, with the full squad scheduled to arrive Monday, February 16. The Grapefruit League opener is set for Saturday, February 21 on the road against the Nationals, followed by Houston’s home opener at CACTI Park on February 22 against the Cardinals.
Top Prospects in Camp
The organization’s top prospect, Brice Matthews, will be in camp competing for a roster spot and is expected to see time at both center field and second base. Other notable invitees include catcher Walker Janek (No. 3), right-hander Miguel Ullola (No. 4), and outfielder Joseph Sullivan (No. 5), the grandson of 1971 Heisman Trophy winner Pat Sullivan.

The Astros face the Cardinals six times during the spring, including home dates on February 22 and March 9, with additional road trips to Jupiter later in camp. Houston will also see the Mets frequently throughout the schedule, with multiple matchups across February and March.
An exhibition against Team Venezuela celebrating World Baseball Classic festivities is scheduled for March 3, and the Spring Breakout prospect showcase will feature Astros prospects hosting Miami’s top talent on March 19.
