ATLANTA, Georgia – September 12, 2025 — In a move designed to bolster the roster for the final stretch of the regular season, the Houston Astros announced today they have selected the contract of outfielder Zach Cole from Triple-A Sugar Land. Cole will join the team in Atlanta ahead of their weekend series against the Atlanta Braves.
The decision to call up Cole, 24, comes after a scorching run of form with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. In a recent 15-game stretch, the left-handed hitting outfielder displayed a potent power-speed combination, hitting five home runs and stealing four bases. His performance caught the attention of the front office and earned him the promotion to the major league roster.
A 10th-round pick in the 2022 draft, Cole has battled through injuries and steadily climbed the organizational ladder. His call-up is seen as a reward for his recent hard work and a strategic addition for the Astros as they fight to regain their lead in the American League West. Cole is expected to provide depth and an offensive spark off the bench.
He will be available for tonight’s game against the Braves at Truist Park. To make room for Cole on the 40-man roster, the Astros have designated right-handed pitcher Declan Cronin for assignment.
